Opportunity Summary 

Ascent ABA provides individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children with autism and developmental delays. The Behavior Technician (Intern) will assist in the implementation of ABA treatment plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). This role provides hands-on experience in behavior analysis, data collection, and professional communication with families and clinical teams.

Tasks:

The responsibilities of Behavior Technicians encompass various tasks, including:
Implementing function-based behavior plans
Implementing PRT
Implementing BST
Employing intensive ABA teaching methods
Providing community-based instruction
Teaching functional life skills
Offering services in homes, communities, or school settings.

Training:

Initial 40 hr training, shadowing BTs, an initial meeting with the BCBA to review the client, and weekly to biweekly supervision meetings in the field.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to do the following:

1. Apply foundational ABA principles
Demonstrate an understanding of basic Applied Behavior Analysis concepts (e.g., reinforcement, prompting, data collection) and apply them appropriately during client sessions under supervision.

2. Collect and record clinical data accurately
Consistently implement data collection procedures and document session notes that reflect fidelity to the treatment plan and professional standards.

3. Support individualized treatment plans
Assist in implementing behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and skill acquisition programs, making necessary adjustments based on supervisor feedback.

4. Demonstrate professional communication skills
Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, and families while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and respect for diversity.

5. Utilize effective SBT strategies
Implement Skill-Based Treatment to teach functional communication, toleration, relinquishment of positive reinforcers, and transition to a non-preferred activity, while maintaining safety, dignity, and rapport with the client.
