College Student AdvisorAt — CSUF - Center for Educational Partnerships
The College Student Advisor position supports students in meeting high school graduation and college entrance requirements, assists with college and financial aid applications, and conducts workshops on academic success, college readiness, and career exploration through one on one and group advising.
Tasks:
Students will provide support to high school students through the following:
- College Preparation Workshops
- College Advising
- Career Advising
- Academic Tutoring
- Scholarship Support
- College Selection and Planning
- College Entrance Exam Preparation
- College Application Assistance
- Identity Development Workshops
- Cultural Development Workshops
- Financial Aid Application Support
- Financial Award Workshops
Training:
Educational Talent Search will provided a robust onboard process that provides an overview of working with students, collaborating with AUHSD, professional expectations, advising, timelines, mandated reporting, recruitment, and self-care.
Educational Talent Search will also provide monthly professional development opportunity for students to continue to grow their communication and advising.
Learning Outcome:
Students will be able to advise high school students on financial aid, scholarships, college applications, systems of higher education, and college and career exploration.
Students will be able to develop meaningful connections and build rapport with their student advisees.
Students will be able to mentor high school students one-on-one or in group settings to empower them towards higher education.
Students will be able to review college applications.
