BASIC NEEDS ADVOCATE (INTERNSHIP)At — CSUF - Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)
POSITION SUMMARY:
OLLI-CSUF Basic Needs Initiative collected donations for CSUF students. Its goal
was to make it easier for OLLI members to help students improve their well-being and, in turn, their academic performance. Members contribute non-perishable food,
as well as lightly used professional and business casual clothes, hygiene products and school supplies for prekindergarten children. In addition to supporting students,
your contributions also help raise awareness among CSUF leadership of OLLI and its commitment to student success.
Under the general direction of the OLLI Executive Director, and direct supervision of the OLLI Board Members and retired corporate attorney, the OLLI Basic Needs Advocate provides services and outreach support for the success and growth of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at California State University, Fullerton.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Acting as OLLI Liaison with CSUF Basic Needs Services
- Providing support to the following on-campus programs: Tuffy's Closet, CSUF Children Center, Pantry food/clothing security, LGBTQ center
- Provides customer service and administrative support to OLLI members, OLLI Board of Trustees, OLLI volunteers, and campus constituencies in-person, by phone and via other technologies.
- Supports OLLI member record creation and membership enrollment in PeopleSoft and accompanying payments; prepares and provides regular member
- Assists members and guests with parking
- Documents and adheres to procedures and
- Supports and tracks members who audit CSUF
- Assists with class scheduling, room scheduling, and course catalog
- Supports and tracks members’ volunteer forms.
- Assists with OLLI Trolley volunteer driver
- Assists members with registration in classes, events and field
- Assists with preparing materials for Board of Trustees meetings and training materials for
- Assists with process documentation, process improvement, special projects, marketing and social media campaigns for the OLLI Program and events, as requested.
- Collaborates with colleagues within and external to OLLI to ensure organizational support, cross-training, teamwork, and customer service excellence are achieved.

Training
- Lecture (Executive Director is a Professor)

- Direct interaction with older adult program members
- Weekly check-in with supervisor on Tuesdays

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to do the following:

3. gain a better understanding of office operations and communication involved in creating a healthy work environment
