Volunteer TutorAt — School on Wheels
School on Wheels provides free tutoring and mentoring to children experiencing homelessness across Southern California. As a volunteer tutor, you’ll make a lasting difference in the life of a student by providing them with academic support, encouragement, and consistency during a time of uncertainty. Volunteering with School on Wheels is a meaningful opportunity to use your skills, compassion, and time to help break the cycle of homelessness through education.
Volunteer tutors provide academic support and encouragement to students, helping them build confidence and skills in their studies. Tutors work with students one-on-one or in small groups, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.

We require all our volunteers to complete a Live Scan background check in order to finalize their application. In addition to submitting our online application, volunteers participate in a training, provide two references, and complete a short onboarding process to ensure they feel prepared and supported before beginning tutoring.
