ABOUT SOUTH COUNTY OUTREACH:
For more than three decades, South County Outreach has been a leader in the fight to end hunger and homelessness in Orange County. We believe that helping people help themselves is the most effective way to build a self-sustaining community. Through the implementation of programs like our homeless prevention program and food pantry, which distributes over 700,000 pounds of food and keeps nearly 2,000 children fed each year, South County Outreach continues to do what we do best—housing hope and ending hunger.
OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:
The Marketing Intern will support South County Outreach by coordinating marketing and social media activities to strengthen the organization’s visibility and community engagement. This position provides direct support to South County Outreach’s mission of helping those in need. Evening and weekend work may be required. Due to the nature of this position, the intern must have access to a vehicle, maintain auto insurance, and possess a satisfactory driving record.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
· Support South County Outreach’s social media presence by creating, scheduling, and publishing posts across platforms.
· Develop engaging content (graphics, captions, short videos, stories, blog posts, etc.) that highlights the mission, programs, and impact of South County Outreach.
· Proofread and edit all marketing, social media, and email communications to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency with the organization’s brand voice.
· Assist in drafting and distributing email campaigns, newsletters, and announcements to supporters and the community.
· Monitor social media channels, respond to comments/messages, and help grow online community engagement.
· Track, analyze, and report on social media, email, and digital marketing performance metrics to inform future strategies.
· Assist in maintaining a content calendar to ensure timely and consistent posting across all communication channels.

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for developing and maintaining positive, effective working relationships with staff, volunteers and board members
· Performs other duties as assigned
COMPUTER AND EQUIPMENT SKILLS:
· Experience with Adobe creative suite or Canva, Wordpress, Google docs and electronic communication platforms and social media applications including MailChimp
· Possess excellent MS Word and Excel program skills, internet, email, and computer skills
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· Frequently stands and walks throughout the day
· Uses hands and fingers to operate computers, keyboards, and office equipment throughout the day
· Requires clear vision with or without corrective lenses
· Requires hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and especially via telephone
· May lift up to 30 pounds often and carry for short distances; may need to lift items from ground level to waist level
· Exposed to physical conditions and noise levels of an event environment
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
· Either pursuing of completion of BA degree
· Administrative, marketing and/or events experience a plus
Tasks:
Support the marketing department's initiatives with the planning, executing, and tracking of retail digital marketing programs
Create, proofread, and edit copy for various marketing channels, ensuring consistent voice
Assist with developing and managing social media content.
Training:
Initial onboarding with Volunteer Manager
Training provided by Marketing Director such as shadowing, review templates, and regularly scheduled check in meetings for tasks.
Learning Outcome:
Key Deliverable will be the creation of a template for advertising weekly sales and specials and the development of future content.
