Opportunity Summary 

Case Manager Assistant The Case Manager Assistant supports immigrant and mixed-status families by helping case managers provide resources, guidance, and crisis support. This role includes assisting with intakes, connecting clients to legal and community services, preparing food and supply distributions, and maintaining accurate records. Responsibilities include: -Greeting families and helping them navigate services. -Assisting with emergency needs such as food, diapers, clothing, or transportation. -Conducting follow-ups to ensure families receive legal, medical, or social service support. -Helping coordinate mobile pantry routes and community events. -Maintaining documentation, case notes, and confidential information. -Supporting case managers with referrals, scheduling, and resource navigation. Ideal Candidates: Compassionate, organized, bilingual preferred, and passionate about supporting immigrant communities.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned basic case management skills, cultural humility, effective communication, and how to connect families to essential community resources.

Opportunity Training 

Students will receive training in client communication, confidentiality, trauma-informed practices, documentation procedures, and resource navigation. They will be oriented to RJEC policies, safety guidelines, cultural sensitivity, and the proper steps for assisting families. Ongoing supervision and on-site guidance are provided throughout the experience.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students must follow all RJEC safety policies, including maintaining client confidentiality, using trauma-informed communication, and following staff instructions during food distribution and outreach activities. Volunteers are not permitted to transport clients, enter private homes, or take photos or videos. All activities occur in supervised, public, or designated work areas, and students are trained to report any concerns immediately to staff.
