What an Intern Will Gain
Interns at Turning Point Counseling will gain hands-on experience in both the therapeutic and business aspects of a counseling center. On the clinical side, interns have the opportunity to observe weekly supervision meetings with associate marriage and family therapists, learning about case approaches and the reasoning behind specific treatment theories and methods.
On the business side, interns will learn how Turning Point Counseling markets its services to attract new clients. Through managing client inquiries, interns will strengthen their follow-up and communication skills while developing an understanding of how to match new clients with the most suitable therapist for their needs.
List of Duties

Answer incoming calls and speak with prospective clients.

Complete intake forms and schedule appointments.

Make follow-up phone calls to inquiries.
Training
Interns receive training in phone communication skills for interacting with prospective clients and in Microsoft Outlook for coordinating with therapists and staff. Additional office training includes scanning, filing, and maintaining HIPAA compliance. Interns also have the chance to observe therapy sessions with licensed clinical psychologists to enhance their understanding of theoretical approaches. Supervisors provide regular feedback and daily debriefings on performance and activities.
