Marketing /Video/Social Media InternAt — YMCA of OC
The project’s goal to strengthen our non profit’s visibility - to promote scholarships to prospective applicants for the 2026-27 scholarships AND to gain financial support for our programs. Programs priorities include our college scholarships and Youth Employment Services (ages 13-25).
We have 20+ current 2025-26 scholarship recipients that we want to feature in video for IG, Facebook and our website.
Tasks:
Students will conduct and film interviews with scholarship recipients, edit videos for social media and the organization’s website, and assist with scheduling and coordinating interview sessions. They will research and help develop “Where Are They Now?” success stories, collaborate with the intern team on production planning, and maintain organized project files. These duties allow students to apply professional video production, communication, and storytelling skills throughout the internship.
Training:
Students will receive a general employer orientation at the start of the placement, followed by ongoing support through weekly one-on-one mentor check-ins. Training will include job shadowing during early interviews and filming sessions, hands-on instruction in camera operation, lighting, and audio setup, and guidance on conducting professional interviews. Interns will also review sample videos, receive context for each assignment, and be provided with step-by-step expectations for shooting, editing, and delivering content. Additional training may include brief workshops, literature reviews, and feedback sessions to ensure skill development and alignment with project goals.
Learning Outcome:
My goals for this internship are to help strengthen the nonprofit’s online visibility by producing high-quality video content, improve my interviewing and filming skills through hands-on experience, and develop an efficient workflow to support completing the 20 scholarship recipient videos by June 20, 2026. I also hope to assist with the “Where Are They Now?” success stories by researching past recipients and creating meaningful storytelling pieces. Finally, I want to collaborate effectively with the intern team to ensure we stay organized, meet deadlines, and deliver strong, impactful content.
