Opportunity Summary 

The Business Relations Intern is an entry-level position that provides administrative, communications, program, and research support to executives and other organizational members. This position supports the day-to-day administration of business affairs, including public and investor relations, communications, event management, marketing, and advertising initiatives on behalf of the organization. Any student who is a recent graduate or interested in expanding their experience in the business and/or private-sector aspects of government affairs, public relations, and communications is encouraged to apply. 

Tasks:

Typical Duties• Preparing business-related documents such as Meeting or board agendas, meeting reports, presentations, and board minuteso Business communications and outreacho Participating in and documenting discussions during meetings and conference callso Produce KPI and SWOT reports for special projects to share with OCBC partners. • Creating Content & Copyo Prepare & draft press releases, op-eds, newsletters, scripts, briefing materials, and other written content to effectively communicate key messages in the public domaino Conduct in-depth research on policy issues, key stakeholders, and legislative developments to support business initiatives and organizational goals• Fielding and processing internal information requests• Provide support for business-related events such as:o Asset and event productiono Event set-up and task executiono Post-mortem reporting and event follow-up communications• Maintaining current work-in-progress records and archives of past project information as appropriate

Training:

All students who placed into our internship will receive the following training:
-Mandatory Orientation and Onboarding session during the first week of their internship (onboarding includes a tour of the facility, registration, software tutorials, a meeting with each department to understand the role they play, a meeting with their direct supervisor to establish a work schedule and learning plan).
-All interns will receive a welcome packet that includes software tutorials for applications commonly used in our organization
-Weekly staff meetings to review team projects with other departments
-Weekly one-on-one meetings with the direct supervisor to review learning outcomes and objectives for the week
-Job shadowing with first time projects, followed by independent work with guided templates and samples to work from

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to do the following:

-Produce professional business communication documents, including executive/board/committee meeting briefing materials.
- Create and manage business reports, including government & business policy research, KPI, and SWOT analysis reports for business organizational projects, and meeting documentation reports.
-Provide support in business operations through hands-on experience in event coordination, project management, and business communications
-Gain a deeper understanding of how a business agency operates
-Develop strong professional communication skills by drafting newsletters, social media posts, and other forms of media content.
