DV Therapy

Health & Safety

The clinic serves a diverse population across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults, and older adults with a variety of communication needs. Students may work with minors receiving services for speech sound disorders, language delays, fluency, or social communication challenges, as well as elderly clients with neurogenic communication disorders. Some clients may present with behavioral or sensory regulation challenges; however, the supervising SLP will be present with the SLPA student 100% of the time. Additional trained staff members are available to assist if needed, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. Cultural and linguistic diversity is respected and supported throughout all services.

The clinic is generally safe, and the supervising SLP will be present with the SLPA student at all times. Interns are encouraged to remain aware of their surroundings, especially after hours. There have been no reported safety concerns involving employees or clients. In the past, there were incidents of broken windows in first-floor stores and offices, but nothing was stolen and no one was injured. The building has an underground parking lot with security cameras; however, it is not patrolled, and it is unclear if recordings are saved. Students should lock vehicles and avoid leaving valuables visible.
