Athletic Training Intern

This position is intended to be an immersive experience for students interested in pursuing a profession in Athletic Training or another similar healthcare profession. Students will receive hands on training with patients seeking evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for athletic related injuries. Professionalism and maintenance of patient privacy will be required at all times. 

Tasks include: 

*Record all patient encounters
*Schedule patient appointments
*Obtain patient history
*Perform initial injury evaluations
*Plan and coordinate daily patient rehabilitation plans
*Plan and coordinate daily patient treatment plans
*Maintain sanitation standards within Athletic Training Clinic
*Maintain patient confidentiality via HIPAA and FERPA Standards

Training:

Students will receive an opening orientation where expectations and goals will be laid out, weekly one-on-one mentor meetings, daily job shadowing, weekly skills workshops and testing.

Learning Outcomes:

*Maintain professional patient documentation. This includes: Injury evaluations, progress notes, and coaches reports.
*Collaborate on patient care with Athletic Trainers, Physicians, Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, administrators, coaches and maintenance staff.
*Implement patient rehabilitation and treatment plans.
