Opportunity Summary 

San Diego Voice & Viewpoint is seeking interns to help our newspaper amplify the voices of San Diego's ethnic and larger San Diego County communities while offering interns real, hands-on newsroom experience. From local stories to global issues, interns will have the opportunity to create impactful articles, videos, and (possibly) podcasts that make a positive impact on the communities we serve. We offer a hybrid internship opportunity, but in-office and on-site intern hours is preferred, as that is where the greatest value of working side-by-side with our newsroom team resides.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of the internship, interns will have acquired skills and knowledge in the follow areas: - Selecting, composing, and editing news and short-form news video content - Creation and distribution of promotional content (as needed) - Time/deadline management - Working in professional environment - Knowledge of newspaper/journalism profession and business - Knowledge of community and issues of local concern

Opportunity Training 

We provide: Dedicated onboarding support 1st two weeks of internship Ongoing, hands-on editorial mentorship, assistance and supervision throughout the internship
