School Social Work InternAt — SCUSD - Student Support and Health Services Department
Are you interested in a career disrupting educational inequities, advocating for student rights, creating safe and nurturing spaces on school campuses, and championing mental health and wellness in education? If so, School Social Work may be the career for you! At Sacramento City Unified School District Department of Student Support and Health Services, we believe in building on the strengths of the students and families we serve. As an intern with us, you will have the opportunity to provide mentoring and case management services to students (grades k-12) and families who are referred to student support centers across our school district. You will link students and families to health, mental health, and basic need resources, co-facilitate groups or classroom curriculum, and engage in quarterly activities for students and their families.
Students will have an understanding of how the public education system works, how to analyze and document data appropriately in a school setting, how to case manage and create case plans for students, collaborate with community partners, and be a part of systemic change.
Interns with SCUSD will be expected to attend 8 mandatory trainings over the course of the school year including Mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training and Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children Training. The other 6 trainings will focus on learning data systems, case management, leading psycho educational groups, and understanding community resources and systems.
