SUTCC COE Sales Tax Compliance/Notice Contractor InternAt — Ernst & Young
The role includes supporting the sales tax compliance team on specific clients. The student's responsibilities include:
Understanding the complete cycle of sales tax compliance
Review, log, analyze, research, resolve and document all notices
Support the client team on items such as requirements for third party log-ins, critical dates calendars, and preparing draft correspondents to send to clients.
Being extremely detail oriented with all documentation and communication. Employ active listening, persuasion, and influencing skills.
Multi-task well in a fast-paced environment.
Proactively anticipate needs and prioritize action steps.
Present weekly status update on all responsibilities .
Be accountable for individual and team responsibilities and deliverables.
Build strong, positive working relationships with team members.

Training:
Start with 2 days of in person training to cover:
EY culture and general orientation
Introduction to sales tax
Review of the sales tax compliance cycle
Detailed discussion on tools, technology, and data
Review various types of notices and steps to resolution
Role Play with multiple seniors and managers on communication with DORs
Everyone is assigned a \\buddy\\ who is a lower level staff to help with everyday questions. Everyone also is assigned a mentor. Additionally, everyone is assigned a manager and senior specific to assigned clients.
Students have weekly update sessions with their client teams and generally at least weekly discussions with the buddy.
There are bi-weekly calls with SUTCC leadership as a check-in to discuss workloads and progress.
At least monthly, we have a feedback session with SUTCC leadership and assigned manager to discuss performance, progress, and development.
