The dA Center for the Arts is seeking an Artbridge Outreach Education Support Intern who will be an important member of dA’s team to help support and organize art programs for ages 3 & up to 18. The Intern’s role will include
helping to prepare for art lessons and art workshops, and measure community engagement, while also learning about advocacy, capacity building and data arts. The intern will have a hands-on opportunity to gain an in-depth
understanding of daily operations while exercising and building communication skills, developing cultural awareness, and establishing professional contacts.
Tasks:
The Internship offers 120 hours within an agreed schedule of 12-15 weeks.
Week One & Two - Organizational Introduction
Office Manager on Boarding Session, facility, operations, and team orientation,
Application Form /Reference Check/ DOJ ( paid for by The dA)
Week Three, Four, & Five - Project Task & Mentor Match
Mentor meeting and goals setting for project pathway. Project vision board, schedule confirmation for work hours and check-ins, supported independent research and exploration for project, supported observation of existing programs on site, in the classroom, and in the community. Introduction to The dA’s Board and Community Civic Leaders.
Week Six, Seven, eight, and Nine - Application of learned skills and project development.
Activate foundational building blocks for the agreed arts focused project. Schedule check ins, time management, and progress reports. Review dA archives and current programs’ vision statements and applications. Co create and contribute to the agreed mentor project. Capture collective feedback from peers.
Week Ten, Eleven, and Twelve - Project Culmination Report
Mentor check in , timeline report, reflections, and evaluations
Training:
The dA is a safe place for interns to explore the many moving parts of a small not for profit with a supportive human centered culture that focuses on building opportunity, confidence, and competence to empower future art leaders for the various creative industry and economy tracks for the arts in education, marketing, management, communication, and production.
The Intern will start with introductions to The dA Team and Departments. The intern will observe and shadow professionals in the various departments and operations to include emergency and safety procedures. The Director and the Intern agree on a memo of understanding that outlines their journey and goals. This MOU is used as a weekly check in to make sure the agreed internship elements are fulfilled for both parties.
Learning Outcome:
Interns will be able to experience how creativity is essential in finding solutions for individual and collective professional, financial, and cultural work situations.
That working in a smaller organization prepares individuals with life long professional skills that can be applied in any scale of a creative industry business or organization.
Through experiences and gatherings the Intern will gain knowledge about layers of opportunities in the creative economy in the robust cultural landscape of LA County, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Orange County.
