Program Information

Service Planning Area 7 (SPA 7) is involved in addressing environmental health equity in communities that have been disproportionately affected by environmental risks, particularly due to the impact of the Exide Battery Recycling Plant. Exide Community Outreach and Engagement staff support and engage residents in the affected communities, of Vernon, Commerce, Maywood, Bell, Huntington Park, East Los Angeles, and parts of Boyle Heights by providing education and prevention on lead exposure. Strategies to promote lead prevention services consist of outreach activities at community events to facilitate linkages to services.
