Opportunity Summary 

The student intern will support the daily operations of an after\u2011school educational program by assisting children with completing and correcting their homework, providing light instructional support during class activities, and supervising students during recess and transition periods to ensure safety and positive behavior. The intern will help maintain an organized and structured learning environment, reinforce classroom expectations, and communicate with supervising teachers regarding student progress and needs. This role provides hands\u2011on experience working with school\u2011age children and applying developmental knowledge in an educational setting.

Tasks:

The student will assist children with correcting and completing their homework, provide supervision during recess and transition times to ensure safety and positive interactions, and offer instructional support during class activities.

Training:

The student will receive an initial orientation to the school’s policies, classroom expectations, and daily procedures. Throughout the placement, the student will be guided by a supervisor who provides ongoing instruction, demonstrations, and opportunities for job shadowing. The student will receive explanations and context for assigned tasks, observe effective teaching and supervision strategies, and receive feedback during informal check\u2011ins. This training ensures the student understands their responsibilities and can apply developmental and professional skills in the classroom setting.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to effectively support children’s academic progress by guiding them through homework completion and accuracy. The student will be able to maintain a safe and structured environment during recess through attentive supervision and positive behavior modeling. The student will also be able to contribute to classroom learning by providing support and communicating professionally with supervising teachers to ensure consistency in student guidance and care.
