Organization Description

Learning Jungle’s mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment where children can learn and grow. The purpose of Learning Jungle is to support the whole child by promoting social-emotional development, early learning skills, and independence through play-based and structured experiences. The program partners with families to meet each child’s individual needs and create a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Health & Safety

The student will primarily work with young children in early childhood education programs, including children with varying developmental levels, learning needs, and social-emotional challenges. Some children may be considered vulnerable populations due to age, developmental differences, or family circumstances. Students will always be partnered with a trained staff member or supervisor when working with these populations. While interns may assist with activities that involve small groups or one-to-one interactions, they will always be supervised to ensure safety and appropriate guidance. Additional safety protocols include following classroom procedures, maintaining constant visual supervision, adhering to child-to-staff ratios, and completing required Mandated Reporter and sexual harassment training. This ensures that students can gain meaningful experience while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all children.

Interns will be working on-site at Learning Jungle, a secure early childhood education facility. 1. Security at the site: Access to classrooms and the facility is controlled; only staff, parents, and authorized visitors are allowed. Doors remain locked during operational hours, and staff monitor entry and exit. 2. Criminal activity: The site is located in a safe, family-oriented community, and there is no known history of criminal activity in the immediate area. 3. Parking facility security: Parking is on-site and visible from the facility, with regular staff presence; the area is well-lit and safe for staff and interns. 4. Additional safety information: Emergency procedures, including fire drills, lockdowns, and first aid protocols, are in place and reviewed during orientation. Interns are trained to follow all safety and health guidelines while on site.

To ensure the safety and well-being of both students and children: No photography or video recording of children is allowed. No phones are to be used during student interactions with children. Smoking, vaping, or alcohol use is strictly prohibited on the premises. Interns will never be left alone with children; a trained staff member or supervisor will always be present. Interns will not be responsible for taking children to the bathroom or changing diapers. These policies maintain a safe, professional, and focused learning environment.
