Opportunity Summary 

Interns will collaborate closely with leadership, assist in identifying new business opportunities, support marketing initiatives, analyze market trends, and contribute to strategic growth projects. This role is ideal for individuals interested in marketing, operations, or leadership development

Tasks:

Students participating in the iStaffing Business Development Internship will perform professional-level duties that support business growth, client development, and strategic sales operations. Responsibilities are designed to be sufficiently complex and analytical to warrant the awarding of academic credit.

Primary Duties (Professional / Pre-Professional – 80%+):
Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify prospective clients, industries, and geographic growth opportunities.
Support business development initiatives by assisting with lead generation, prospect qualification, and outreach strategy development.
Analyze sales and pipeline data to track outreach effectiveness, identify trends, and support decision-making.
Assist in preparing client presentations, pitch materials, and internal strategy summaries for leadership review.
Participate in client engagement activities, including observing sales meetings, strategy calls, and internal planning sessions.
Collaborate with leadership to evaluate growth opportunities, refine outreach messaging, and improve sales processes.
Draft professional communications, reports, and summaries that reflect executive-level standards.

Supplementary Duties (Supportive / Learning-Based – ≤20%):
Maintain organized documentation of outreach efforts, research findings, and project deliverables.
Participate in training sessions, mentorship meetings, and professional development discussions.

Training:

Students placed in the iStaffing Business Development Internship will receive structured and ongoing training designed to support measurable learning outcomes and professional skill development.
Training will include:
Initial General Employer Orientation (Mandatory):
An onboarding session introducing iStaffing’s mission, organizational structure, workplace expectations, compliance standards, and an overview of the staffing and workforce solutions industry.
Role-Specific Training & Task Contextualization:
Interns will receive detailed explanations of assigned projects, including the business purpose, expected outcomes, and how each task contributes to broader sales and growth strategies.
Weekly One-on-One Mentor Meetings:
Scheduled meetings with a business development leader to review progress, provide feedback, discuss challenges, and connect day-to-day work to learning objectives.
Job Shadowing & Observational Learning:
Interns will shadow sales and business development professionals during client outreach, internal strategy meetings, and pipeline discussions to gain real-world exposure to B2B sales operations.
Work Samples & Skills Development:
Interns will work with real (non-confidential) examples of outreach materials, market research, sales data, and reporting tools. Training materials, templates, and guided examples will be provided.
Ongoing Coaching & Professional Development:
Continuous feedback, informal coaching, and skills-based guidance to strengthen communication, professionalism, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Learning Outcome:

Develop a foundational understanding of B2B sales and business development within the staffing and workforce solutions industry.
Gain hands-on experience in client outreach, lead generation, and relationship management, including exposure to sales pipelines and CRM workflows.
Learn to analyze market trends and client data to identify growth opportunities and support strategic decision-making.
Build professional skills in communication, presentation, and executive-level collaboration by working directly with leadership.
