Counselor InternAt — River Springs Charter School

Alyssa will assist students in an academic setting. She will support student with social emotional issues with regard to academics, as well as emotional support directly related to academic deficits.

Tasks:

The duties the student will be performing that will allow them to demonstrate the learning outcomes have been achieved will be;
1. Working with students, one to one, to address learning difficulties and the emotional issues connected.
2. Conducting small groups to facilitate positive interaction in the classroom and general milieu.
3. Working one to one with students to address the emotional component with regard to learning difficulties.

Training:

The student will recieve the following training during the academic internship;
1. Schoolwide professional developments at the start of the year that inform the direction of River Springs Charter School.
2. Counseling department meetings during the year.
3. One to one mentor meetings and check in.
4. Week counseling meetings with administration.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to support student social emotional issues related to;
1. School and Classroom culture.
2. Social/Emotional issues related to academic deficits and struggles with learning.
3. Possible issues with homelife and family structure.
