Childcare AssistantAt — Lissy's Family Daycare
A childcare assistant/teacher is responsible for nurturing and educating children ranging from infants to toddlers. The role involves planning and delivering appropriate learning activities that support cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Teachers create a safe, structured, and engaging classroom where children learn through play, exploration, and guided instruction. Key responsibilities include observing and assessing child development, fostering positive behavior and social skills, supporting early literacy and numeracy, and encouraging curiosity. Teachers maintain consistent routine, ensure health and safety standards are met, and provide emotional support to help children feel secure and confident.
Task:
Students will support classroom management strategies , including guided positive behavior and facilitating group activities. Students will communicate professionally with staff regarding classroom observations, lesson outcomes, and child engagement. Students will assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating age appropriate learning activities that support cognitive, social, emotional and physical development.
Training:
Students will receive an initial general employer orientation covering daycare policies, child safety procedures, licensing requirements, and professional expectations. Training will include job shadowing experience educators to observe classroom routines, child interactions, and instructional strategies. Students will participate in ongoing supervision and mentoring including regular check ins with designated supervisor to discuss responsibilities, learning goals, and progress. Students will receive guided instruction and feedback while assisting in duties. Training materials may include curriculum guides and sample lesson activities to support the student.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to understand child development by observing age appropriate behaviors, needs, and milestones. Another outcome is learning classroom management techniques appropriate for young children. Another learning outcome may be building communication skills by interacting with children, staff, and parents professionally. Lastly, students will develop professionalism, teamwork, and ethical responsibility in a childcare setting.
