Children's Ministry InternAt — Richfield Community Church

Opportunity Summary 

The Children’s Ministry Intern will help support the preparation, planning and execution of the Children’s Ministry programs at Richfield Community Church. A significant focus will be on direct engagement during Sunday services where the intern will be able to apply theories and principles of child development in real world scenarios. The Children’s Ministry Intern will also help in the development and launch of a Special Needs Ministry in which the intern will be able to apply knowledge in inclusive teaching, family collaboration, and individualized child support. The intern will work closely under the supervision of the Pastor of Families and Children.

Tasks:

\u25cf Assist with execution of children’s ministry programming during Sunday services and workshops
\u25cf Engage children in small groups, activities, and structured learning environments
\u25cf Observe and support children’s behavioral, emotional, and social development in group settings
\u25cf Assist with classroom/playroom setup, safety procedures, and transitions
\u25cf Support special events
\u25cf Assist in launching Special Needs Ministry (interview families of children with special needs, help with volunteer applications, volunteering etc.)

Training:

To ensure the student meets the proposed learning outcomes, the following training and mentorship will be provided:

\u25cf Initial orientation that details RCCs Children’s Ministry mission, emergency procedures, children’s safety, and other campus rules and regulations
\u25cf Ministry Safe Training
\u25cf Weekly supervision meetings with the Pastor of Families and Children’s to review execution of Sunday services, discuss interns progress, provide constructive feedback, and reflect on learning outcomes

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the Children’s Ministry Internship at Richfield Community Church, the student will be able to:

1. Promote child well-being by supporting safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate experiences during Sunday services and special needs ministry activities
2. Demonstrate culturally responsive and inclusive practices by adapting activities, communication styles, and supports to meet the diverse needs of children and families at RCC
3. Identify age-appropriate developmental milestones and individual differences by observing and supporting children across multiple age groups
4. Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with families ensuring the best support for their children
5. Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with church staff and volunteers
