Opportunity Summary 

The intern will support the lead instructor in delivering movement anatomy lab coursework. They will assist in demonstrating anatomical concepts through physical movement, alignment, and kinesthetic awareness. They will help students understand musculoskeletal structures, and evaluation of injuries. The intern will assist in setting up and breaking down the lab spaces. They will maintain a safe learning environment by reinforcing proper assessments and injury-prevention practices. Finally, they will communicate student needs, concerning accessible teaching practices for diverse bodies and movement background.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

The Prevention and Management of Athletic Injuries Teaching Assistant supports the lead instructor in the delivery of movement-based anatomy coursework. This role assists with instruction, demonstrations, student support, and course logistics, helping students understand anatomical structures, injury assessment and evaluation, and functional movement through embodied learning.

Opportunity Training 

They would have had to taken the KINE 302 class previously.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

The intern must follow the instructor's guidance regarding demonstrations, hands-on assistance, and verbal cueing. The intern will be responsible for reinforcing safe movement practices, including proper hands on assessments and evaluations. The intern must immediately report any injuries, unsafe conditions, or student health concerns to the instructor. Emergency procedures, including injury response and evacuation protocols, must be followed as outlined by the institution.

Opportunity Application Instructions 

The intern must be enrolled in the CSUSMS KINE 495C class and complete 90 hours of the internship. They must keep track of their hours using the approved time-sheet.
