Opportunity Summary 

Assisting with the programs at the Terri G. Muse Family Service Center 

Students will assist professional staff at the Baldwin Park Family Service Center through a variety of pre-professional duties. Responsibilities will include assisting with the coordination and implementation of community programs and workshops, providing customer service by greeting participants and responding to inquiries, and supporting outreach efforts to increase community awareness of available services.

Students will perform administrative tasks such as preparing program materials, maintaining records, updating databases, and assisting with reports. They may also help plan events, track participation data, and evaluate program effectiveness. Additional duties include collaborating with staff on special projects, conducting basic research to support program development, and observing best practices in public service delivery. These responsibilities are designed to build practical skills while giving students meaningful, hands-on experience in a municipal community services environment.

Training:

Students at the Baldwin Park Family Service Center will complete a mandatory general orientation covering the City’s mission, workplace policies, confidentiality, and safety procedures. They will receive an overview of assigned tasks and participate in job shadowing to understand daily operations and community programs. Ongoing support will include regular check-ins with a supervisor, skills-based training in areas such as customer service and program coordination, and access to training materials to support their learning and professional development.
