Volunteer Duties/Tasks
Prep Arts - After School Arts Volunteer
The ASA Program volunteers develop their artistic, educational and career goals by supporting the program through some tasks, including but not limited to: Provide assistance to teachers during the actual class session, work and develop rapport with teachers concerning lesson plan building and curriculum evaluation, and assist with special events, projects and outreach.
Learning Academy Volunteer
Volunteers will provide tutoring and homework support to children (ages 4-13) through individual or small group instruction.
MECCA Volunteer
Volunteers will represent MECCA within the community, acting as advocates for our mission and programs. Program Volunteers will work directly with our program participants and assist staff on continuing the success of our programs. Tasks include but not limited to: engaging with participants, assisting in classes, conducting general outreach, and completing administrative projects for our programs.
Therapeutic Arts Volunteer
Volunteers will assist in socialization classes to children and youth of all ages and disabilities to enhance their psychological, socio-emotional, communication/linguistic and cognitive development.
WIA Volunteer
o Volunteers will tutor and mentor Transitional Age Youth (TAY) in various academic subjects.
Tasks:
Tasks include:
set-up classes, assisting with teachers. documentation, learn how to to reference linkage, assisting in community events, behavior supervision, material preparation, student safety, and completing administrative projects for our programs.
Training:
Intern/Volunteer will get general training, workshops, orientation. They will also gain experience with assistance and job shadowing and facilitating sessions.
Learning Outcome:
To get on hand experiences of working with at risk youth and families. Intern/Volunteers will also gain mental health wellness.
