Outreach & Marketing InternAt — Strength Through Strides
The Marketing & Outreach Intern will support Strength Through Strides’ Spring 2026 outreach and marketing efforts in preparation for the LA Denim Run (April 2026), the inaugural event in the organization’s Denim Run Series. The intern will assist with recruiting college students and Los Angeles–area residents for event participation and will conduct outreach to colleges, student organizations, athletic teams, and community partners. This role provides hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, community engagement, partnership development, and event promotion while supporting a survivor-centered nonprofit mission.
Tasks:
The intern will perform the following professional and pre-professional duties (80%+ of responsibilities):
Research and identify colleges, student organizations, athletic teams, and community partners in the Los Angeles area
Conduct outreach via email, social media, and in-person engagement to recruit participants and collaborators
Assist with partnership development with local brands, sororities, fraternities, and campus organizations
Support marketing and promotional campaigns for the LA Denim Run
Track outreach communications and engagement outcomes
Assist with planning and coordination related to event marketing and recruitment
Represent Strength Through Strides professionally and mission-aligned in all communications
Participate in planning meetings and contribute ideas for outreach and engagement strategies
Training:
The intern will receive structured training and ongoing mentorship, including:
Initial orientation covering Strength Through Strides’ mission, values, survivor-centered approach, organizational policies, and internship expectations
Training on outreach strategies, professional communication, and brand-aligned messaging
Weekly check-ins with the internship supervisor to review progress, provide feedback, and set goals
Ongoing mentorship and guidance throughout the semester, including debriefing after outreach efforts
Constructive written and verbal feedback on communications, outreach methods, and professional development
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:
Design and implement grassroots marketing and outreach strategies for a nonprofit event
Conduct professional outreach to campus organizations, community groups, and local brands
Develop written and verbal communication skills for nonprofit marketing and partnership-building
Analyze outreach efforts and adjust strategies based on engagement and response
Demonstrate professional conduct, organization, and time management in a nonprofit setting
Understand the role of community engagement in nonprofit advocacy and event-based fundraising
