Tasks:

The intern will demonstrate their learning outcomes through tasks such as creating and updating patient charts, inputting patient lab/imaging results into their medical records, handling patient calls regarding medication refill requests, faxing patient referrals and documentation, assisting with patient scheduling and visit verification, collecting insurance information over the phone with patients, and help organizing the clinic/patient billing.

Training:

Training consists of one on one teaching with the student intern during the first week, the student will take notes during instruction and will be observed for any corrections.

Learning Outcome:

The students' learning outcomes include being able to interact with patients effectively and professionally, demonstrate cultural competence with patients, and develop a skill set to operate a clinic and work alongside medical professionals. By the end of the internship, the student will have developed skills to effectively communicate with patients and medical staff, and demonstrate organization and professionalism in a healthcare setting through their hands-on experience in clinical office operations.
