Tasks:
Primary responsibilities include:
Implement individualized behavior intervention and skill acquisition programs under supervision
Provide one-on-one and small group instructional support to clients in clinical, home, and community settings
Collect, record, and organize behavioral data using approved data collection systems
Assist in monitoring client progress and preparing summaries for supervisor review
Participate in treatment planning meetings and case discussions with clinical staff
Observe and assist with functional behavior assessments and behavior support planning
Apply evidence-based behavior management and reinforcement strategies
Support development of communication, social, academic, and daily living skills
Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory standards
Collaborate with supervisors, caregivers, and multidisciplinary team members
Participate in supervision, training sessions, and performance evaluations
Review clinical literature, treatment protocols, and training materials as assigned
Practice ethical and professional conduct in compliance with BACB and organizational guidelines
Students will also complete reflective assignments, skill demonstrations, and competency evaluations to document professional growth and learning outcomes.
Training:
Students will engage in job shadowing with experienced clinicians and direct service providers to observe best practices in service delivery. They will receive hands-on training in implementing behavior intervention and skill acquisition programs, data collection procedures, and behavior management strategies.
Students will participate in regularly scheduled one-on-one supervision and mentorship meetings with a qualified supervisor to review performance, receive feedback, and set learning goals. Additional training includes guided review of treatment plans, modeling and role-play of intervention techniques, provision of work samples, and ongoing competency assessments.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to implement evidence-based behavior intervention strategies, collect and analyze data, and provide ethical, high-quality services under supervision.
