Opportunity Summary 

NFYI’s Internship program is dedicated to strengthening grassroots organizing at its deepest level — by investing in the professional growth of our interns who are current and former foster youth between 18 and 30. We nurture the next generation of changemakers, empowering them to uplift their communities through networking, mobilization, and leadership. This cycle of growth not only benefits our interns but also strengthens NFYI’s foundation for long-term impact.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Practical experience in child welfare advocacy, policy research, and community organizing. How NFYI centers lived experience to influence public perception and advance systemic policy change within the child welfare system. Enhance academic knowledge by allowing the student to apply concepts related to social policy, research methods, and community engagement to real-world practice. Leadership Development. Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Intern supervisor will be sure to be in constant communication with the student to ensure that they are having a safe and meaningful experience. Intern supervisor will keep open communication and ensure that the student is aware that there are multiple support systems in place to ensure the student's safety during their internship.
