Summer 2026 Fashion Social Media Specialist InternAt — Fashion Index
Self-motivated, independent, fashion-savvy intern with excellent editing and writing skills to work directly with our founder and social content team. The majority of this role involves reviewing and editing social media artwork created by our artist, and writing and editing captions for Fashion Index communications across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Additional responsibilities include monitoring the social media calendar, reaching out to Suppliers to collect information and assets for artwork creation, and researching and suggesting new content concepts. This position requires the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment with competing priorities. This is an unpaid position. Social Media Management Mastery: Gain hands-on experience in managing and optimizing corporate social media accounts on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and TikTok. Develop proficiency in utilizing Canva and Google Workspace for creating engaging social media content. Content Research and Outreach Skills: Acquire skills in researching and reaching out to Listers and fashion influencers for image and content creation. Develop strategies for effective communication and collaboration with individuals and businesses listed on Fashion Index. Social Media Analytics Proficiency: Learn to analyze social media data on a weekly basis to extract meaningful insights and track the performance of various campaigns and content. Fashion Industry Insights: Deepen understanding of current trends, fashion magazines, and digital media within the fashion industry. Develop knowledge of trending celebrities and fashion and lifestyle influencers. Multifaceted Artwork Participation: Participate in the creation and review of artwork, including captions, tags, and hashtags, ensuring alignment with the brand's image. Digital Media Research Skills: Develop expertise in researching digital news media, and staying updated on industry news and trends. Collaboration and Communication Skills: Work directly with founders Tirsa Parrish and Marge Pietrera, gaining insights into startup operations and collaborating with the executive editor. Participate in one-on-one working sessions with founder Tirsa Parrish to enhance collaboration and communication skills. Independent Project Management: Gain experience in managing competing priorities and adapting to a fast-paced environment. Take initiative on projects and demonstrate the ability to work independently, showcasing strong organizational skills. Professional Development: Fine-tune existing skills and acquire new ones through practical experiences in a real-world setting. Learn how to effectively contribute to a remote team and navigate the dynamics of a startup web platform. Networking and Relationship Building: Build relationships within the fashion industry, connecting with Listers, influencers, and professionals associated with Fashion Index. Develop communication and relationship-building skills through interactions with various stakeholders. Compliance with Academic Requirements: Understand and comply with academic credit requirements set by your college or university. Work closely with your school's Internship Coordinator to ensure alignment with academic guidelines. This internship aims to provide a holistic learning experience, blending practical skills with industry insights and professional development. The intern will gain exposure to various aspects of social media management within the fashion industry and contribute to the growth and success of Fashion Index.
A complete onboarding process will occur with the intern's direct supervisor. SMART goals will be discussed and any additionalal paperwork or training required by the university will be completed.
