United Teens Coordinator \u2013 Jr. High SchoolAt — OC United
Scope:
The United Teens Program Staff for Jr. High School are responsible for the care and direction of the teens in the Nicolas Jr. High (or other middle school designated area) of our after-school program, contributing towards program development, and supporting our community development within the Fullerton School District neighborhoods.
Job Description:
\u25cf Lead middle-school students in social-emotional and trauma-informed afterschool programming focused on developing healthy power, purpose and belonging
\u25cf Plan, prepare, and teach different activities for students
\u25cf Mentor students through daily issues and significant life change through supportive relationships and whole person care
\u25cf Communicate student successes and challenges with students' caregivers to support whole-family health
\u25cf Manage and maintain a healthy group environment physically, socially, and emotionally
\u25cf Gain training in TBRI practices and after school programming, while learning the approach taken in United Kids & Teens
\u25cf Other duties as required by the United Kids & Teens program or by OC United.
Training:
- Weekly team meetings
- Training on trauma informed care, group management, curriculum development, and social emotional learning
- Ongoing training provided for all OC United employees
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:
- Build and deliver meaningful social emotional learning programming for 7th-8th graders
- Confidently utilize a trauma informed and healing centered approach to student care
- Understand the developmental needs for Jr Highers and able to identify and meet those needs
