TeacherAt — Creekside Montessori Preschool

The preschool teacher intern will assist in providing a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children ages 2–5. Under the supervision of the lead teacher and director, the intern will assist in planning and implementing the daily curriculum, support children’s social and emotional development, ensure safety and cleanliness, and communicate effectively with staff and families. This role combines hands-on classroom experience with mentorship and professional skill development in early childhood education.

Tasks:

During the placement, students will assist in creating and maintaining a prepared Montessori environment that supports each child’s independence and curiosity. They will help plan and guide developmentally appropriate lessons, observe and document children’s progress, and model positive, respectful communication. Students will support classroom routines, lead small group activities, and practice effective classroom management aligned with Montessori principles. They will also collaborate with the lead teacher, participate in weekly reflections, and apply feedback to strengthen their teaching and leadership skills.

Training:

During your placement, you’ll receive hands-on experience and ongoing support to help you grow as a lead teacher. Learn about our school, routines, safety, and classroom expectations. Observe experienced teachers to see how lessons and routines are managed. Meet with your mentor each week to set goals, ask questions, and get feedback. Gradually take the lead in planning activities, guiding children, and managing the classroom. Join short trainings on key topics and receive regular feedback to help you improve and build confidence.
