Position Summary:
The classroom Assistant supports the lead teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. This role involves assisting with daily classroom activities, supervising children, promoting social and emotional development, and helping maintain a clean and organized classroom. The classroom Assistant works closely with teachers, staff, and families to ensure that every child’s needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans, activities, and routines.
• Assist children with personal needs, such as meals and transitions.
• Supervise and engage children during indoor and outdoor play to ensure safety.
• Encourage positive social interactions and model respectful behavior.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom and play environment.
• Prepare and set up learning materials, supplies, and activity areas.
• Observe and report children’s progress, behaviors, and any concerns to the teacher.
• Support classroom management strategies and appropriately redirect challenging behavior.
• Communicate effectively with staff, families, and children in a positive and professional manner.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development as required.

Learning Outcome

The student will learn to understand the social, emotional, and physical development of young children, recognizing their different stages and needs. The student will learn strategies for creating a calm, organized, and predictable environment, including effective routine and behavior management techniques. The student will understand the importance of being organized with materials, schedules, and activities to ensure a smooth, efficient classroom day.
