Rising Scholars VolunteerAt — Mt. San Antonio College

Duties will be as follows:

Supporting students through the application process to college and other higher education needs. 

Providing support to students in acclimating to the campus environment.

Assisting in the implementation and hosting of academic, life skills, and cultural workshops.

Tasks:

Intern will:

• Work on one-on-one with incoming students to:
  • apply to college, learn to search for classes, and navigate school programs.

• Support in workshops:
  • Will shadow staff building workshops until the intern can conduct a workshop on their own.

• Will develop and implement new workshops
• Work on supporting non-credit students

Training:

• One-on-one with director
• Shadowing staff
• Planning workshops
• Attend staff meetings
• Work with students one on one.
• Developing workshops

Learning Outcomes:

• Work with formerly incarcerated students
• Develop workshops
• Analyze student needs
• Understand needs of formerly incarcerated students
• Learn college policies and procedures
• Learn to develop student onboarding plan
