United States Veterans Initiative

Organization Description

USVETS supports veterans and their families in obtaining and maintaining permanent housing, providing mental healthcare, employment services, financial and legal support, and transitional housing programming.

Health & Safety

The site is part of a campus that houses over 400 formerly homeless Individuals. Crime, typically petty is frequently reported and in some cases, though rare has led to injury of another resident and incarceration of perpetrator.

Though we screen participants for arson and sex offenses, some of our veterans have a criminal background. We typically look for a period of rehabilitation between crime and enrollment into our program, considering safety for whole site. Age of participants range from 20 - 98 and over 75% of out participants have a documented disability (mental or physical )

I have 6 interns at a time and they are typically working from my office and are directly monitored 70% of their shift, prioritizing time they are with clients
