Opportunity Summary 

We are seeking a creative, organized, and motivated Marketing Intern to support outreach and awareness efforts. This role is ideal for a student or early-career professional interested in nonprofit marketing, communications, community engagement, and mental health advocacy. The Marketing Intern will help promote our mission, strengthen relationships with local healthcare providers, and grow community awareness of our services.

Responsibilities include designing and creating flyers and promotional materials, assisting with mission-driven messaging, drafting and sending email campaigns, maintaining contact lists, and supporting engagement tracking. The intern will manage social media content by creating, scheduling, and posting updates, developing engaging captions and visuals, and monitoring audience interaction. The role also involves contacting local hospitals, clinics, and community organizations by phone and email to introduce our services and explore partnership opportunities, while maintaining organized records of outreach and follow-ups. Additional duties may include distributing materials, supporting campaigns and events, and assisting with general marketing tasks as needed.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with comfort making professional outreach calls and emails. Basic graphic design experience with tools such as Canva or Adobe is preferred, as is familiarity with social media platforms. Candidates should be organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about expanding access to mental health care.

Tasks:

The role also involves developing mission-aligned messaging and contributing creative ideas to help expand access to mental health services across California.

Training:

The Marketing Intern will receive comprehensive onboarding at the start of the internship, including training on the organization’s mission, services, brand voice, outreach strategy, and marketing tools. This initial training will provide a clear understanding of our community partnerships, target audiences, and communication standards to ensure the intern feels confident representing the organization. Throughout the internship, the intern will participate in weekly one-on-one meetings with the Founder/Director of Marketing for personalized mentorship, feedback, and professional development. These sessions will provide guidance on current projects, skill-building opportunities, and strategic thinking within nonprofit marketing. The internship is designed to be highly collaborative, encouraging interns to pitch creative campaign ideas or growth initiatives aligned with our mission. With mentorship and structured support, interns will have the opportunity to develop their ideas into actionable projects and see them through to implementation, gaining meaningful hands-on experience in mission-driven marketing and leadership.
