Opportunity Summary 

This opportunity provides students with experiential learning in an educational and youth development setting. Students will support structured before- and after-school programming by assisting with activity facilitation, child supervision, and positive behavior reinforcement. Participants will receive training in child safety, communication strategies, and behavior management. The role emphasizes professional development through collaboration with site leaders, reflection, and skill-building in leadership, organization, and teamwork. This position supports career exploration in education, child development, psychology, and community services while accommodating students’ academic schedules.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned how to effectively communicate with and support children in a structured educational setting while applying behavior management and child safety practices. They will develop professionalism through teamwork, leadership, and collaboration with site supervisors, and gain experience creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. Students will also strengthen transferable skills such as time management, responsibility, and adaptability while balancing academic and work commitments, preparing them for future careers in education, youth services, and related fields.

Opportunity Training 

Students will receive comprehensive training before performing their responsibilities. This includes orientation on program expectations, child safety and supervision protocols, communication skills, and behavior management strategies. Students will also be trained on Elevo Learning policies, daily activity planning, and teamwork. Ongoing support, guidance, and feedback will be provided by site leads or supervisors to ensure students feel confident and prepared in their roles.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

All students will receive training in child safety, supervision standards, and mandated reporting requirements prior to beginning the role. Safety protocols include active supervision of children, adherence to check-in and check-out procedures, and compliance with Elevo Learning policies. Students are required to follow emergency procedures, report concerns immediately to site supervisors, and maintain a professional, respectful environment. Background checks and health and safety guidelines are followed to ensure a safe and supportive setting for both students and children.
