After-School MentorAt — TEAM Charter Schools
After School Mentor will develop and implement academic and enrichment activities for groups of 20 or more students in grades TK-8 who participate in the after-school program. After School Mentor may also collaborate with other school staff to assist students in improving academic skills and reaching performance goals.
The internship position will provide hands-on experience in a professional setting aligned with academic program and career goals. The intern will assist with daily program activities, support the students academically and socially, and collaborate with students under supervision. Responsibilities include observation, documentation, and participating in team meetings.
Tasks:
-Assisting with daily program or classrooms activities.
-Providing academic and social-emotional support to students.
-Observing and documenting student progress and interactions.
-Participating in staff meetings and collaborative planning sessions.
-Communicating professionally with staff, students and parents.
-Apply learned strategies and reflecting on performance during supervision meetings.
Training:
Provide regular one-on-one supervision meetings to review progress and offer feedback, model appropriate professional practices, student support strategies, assigned guided hand-on responsibilities with increasing levels of independence. I will also provide opportunities for observation, collaborative team participation and reflective discussions to support skill development and professional growth.
Learning Outcomes:
Able to demonstrate effective professional communication and collaboration with staff and students. Applying academic knowledge in a real-world setting and implement appropriate strategies to support student academic and social- emotional development. The students will also maintain accurate documentation, follow professional and ethic standards.
