Project Assistant InternAt — Claremont Lewis Museum of Art - Project ARTstART
The project assistant internship is a semester based opportunity for a college student to act as a mentor and coach to high school students who are volunteering their time to plan, practice, and present art lessons in our community schools. In addition, PAs work to design activities to prepare the students at the museums, galleries and other partner cultural venues. They are involved in assessing students' readiness, supervise their group lesson planning process, and giving feedback to students after presentations.
Best practices related to running a youth arts program, including, but not limited to mentoring coaching leading small group discussions planning one's own small group, discussion and art projects, giving meaningful feedback, providing constructive criticism and presenting in front of large groups of students.
Budget assistant interns meet with the project or regular and go over the key items related to our program including visual thinking strategies C think wonder and the basics of writing lesson plans and art curriculum. They are also provided access to professional artists and carriers who give them additional context before they work with students.
Entrance will be supervised at all times when working with youth. They are expected to manage themselves and support themselves to the highest ethical standards.
