Opportunity Summary 

Assist with the preparation of individual tax returns (Form 1040) and related schedules, including schedules C, D and E for clients with a variety of financial situations. Gather and review client financial information to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax regulations. Communicate directly with clients to request documents, clarify information, and answer questions regarding their tax returns.

Additional responsibilities include reviewing income statements, deductions, and credits, organizing client tax documents, and entering data into tax preparation software. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information while providing professional and timely service. Assist clients in understanding their tax obligations, potential refunds, and available tax benefits. Support the tax preparation process by ensuring returns are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with IRS guidelines.

Task:

The intern will demonstrate their learning outcomes by:
• Assisting with preparation of individual and small business tax returns.
• Organizing and reviewing client financial documents and tax forms.
• Entering tax data into professional tax preparation software.
• Performing basic tax research related to deductions, credits, and filing requirements.
• Supporting the tax team with administrative tasks during busy filing periods.
• Preparing summaries and workpapers related to tax engagements.
• Participating in meetings and discussions regarding tax planning strategies.

Training:

To help the intern achieve the proposed learning outcomes, we will provide:
• Initial onboarding and orientation covering tax workflow and expectations.
• Training on tax preparation software and document management systems.
• Weekly check-in meetings with the supervising tax professional to review progress.
• Hands-on mentorship and guidance while preparing tax returns and research assignments.
• Opportunities to ask questions and receive feedback on completed work.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:
1. Apply fundamental tax concepts to the preparation of individual and business tax returns.
2. Interpret financial documents such as W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, and other tax reporting forms.
3. Conduct basic tax research using professional tax resources and summarize findings.
4. Understand compliance requirements related to federal and state tax filings.
5. Develop professional communication skills when working with clients and internal team members.
