Napa Wildlife Rescue
Our mission is to support and advocate for wildlife through rehabilitation, education, collaboration and community engagement, in order to promote sustainable and healthy ecosystems in Napa County for present and future generations.
One shift option does extend past 6pm but they will never be alone on site. There will be times that they might be doing a task by themselves, i.e. cleaning, diet preparations, laundry, feeding baby animals. Any other handling of wildlife will be done under supervision. Supervisors could be overseeing 8-10 people but there will always be at least 2 supervisors on site.
We work with rabies vector species (fox, bat, skunk, raccoon). Only students with the rabies pre exposure vaccine will be able to help handle animals when they're young and given proper PPE. At a certain age only staff is permitted to handle these animals. Students are not required to get this vaccine, if they do they are permitted to handle these species and have to pay for the vaccine themselves, if they don't they do not get to handle these species.
