School on Wheels
Organization Description
We provide free tutoring and support to K–12 students experiencing homelessness across Southern California, including children and families living in shelters, motels, vehicles, on the streets, and unaccompanied youth in residential treatment centers (RTCs) or group homes.
Health & Safety
Additional requirements and/or considerations Students may be working with individuals who have experienced traumatic situations (homelessness, foster youth, domestic violence). TB Tests may be required depending on the assigned location, but not all volunteers are required to obtain one.
- Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
- Must be 18 or older
- Pre-Placement Training
- SUPERVISION: Students may be required to work at night (after 6pm).
- SUPERVISION: Students will be supervised less than 50% of the time or the supervisor will be responsible for overseeing more than 8 people.
