Equine-Assisted Service research (i.e., therapy with horses) At — Senior Concerns

Opportunity Summary 

The opportunity to work on materials that are related to a comprehensive literature review on animal therapy (e.g., different types of therapy, what animals are used and how they compare) with specific emphasis on services involving horses. As part of this project, students will be identifying gaps in the research which may guide us in directions for research projects.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Gaps in research that already exists about equine therapy for people with dementia. What permissions are needed on campus to work with dementia patients. What ethical/legal documentation is needed to conduct research on this topic. What grants might be available to fund this type of research.

Opportunity Training 

Training will be provided by the instructor.
