Opportunity Summary 

This micro-internship supports Pomona’s sidewalk vending micro-enterprise initiative by assisting with the planning, pilot delivery, and documentation of community-based food safety training aligned with ServSafe Food Handler requirements. Under faculty oversight and guidance from MS student Tony Wei, interns will complete essential groundwork—needs assessment, pilot training support, and preliminary materials—laying the foundation for a full MS project to be finalized in Fall 2026.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

1. Support pilot food safety training sessions for Pomona sidewalk vendors and micro-entrepreneurs. 2. Assist in organizing introductory food safety curriculum modules aligned with ServSafe standards. 3. Collect and document training participation and assessment data. 4. Produce a structured planning and documentation package for project continuation.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Micro-interns will work in team setting to prepare training materials and workshop promotion material, and will also visit the Pomona Hub to deliver training sessions. Driving or car-pooling is needed to visit the Pomona Hub.
