Geotechnical InternAt — Geo Spectra Consulting Engineers
Geo Spectra Consulting Engineers is offering an academic internship for a Geotechnical Intern. The student will support geotechnical engineering and drafting activities under the supervision of a licensed geotechnical professional. Responsibilities include organizing and reviewing geotechnical data, assisting with preparation of engineering-related documents and drawings, supporting soil and subsurface investigation records, and contributing to office-based technical tasks related to geotechnical projects. This internship is designed to provide practical exposure to professional engineering workflows, technical documentation, and geotechnical project support in a consulting environment.
Tasks:
The student will perform the following duties:
• organize and review geotechnical data, boring logs, and related project records
• assist with preparation and updating of technical drawings and drafting files
• support the preparation of geotechnical reports, tables, logs, and engineering documentation
• assist with data entry, formatting, and quality checking of engineering information
• help compile field and laboratory information for project files and technical review
• support project coordination and other engineering-related office tasks as assigned by the supervisor
• participate in review meetings and apply feedback to improve technical work products
Training:
The student will receive an initial orientation covering company practices, office procedures, project workflow, safety expectations, and assigned responsibilities. Training will be provided directly by the supervisor through guided instruction on geotechnical data handling, drafting expectations, documentation standards, and project support procedures. The student will receive regular mentorship and supervision throughout the internship, including ongoing task-specific guidance, review of completed work, and weekly feedback meetings to discuss progress, questions, and areas for improvement. Additional debriefing will be provided as needed to ensure the student is meeting learning goals and developing industry-relevant skills.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:

• assist in preparing professional geotechnical documentation and technical drafts
• apply classroom knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering in a professional setting
• use industry-standard drafting and engineering office practices to support project tasks
