Adult Education InstructorAt — Plaza Comunitaria Sinaloa
We are seeking a dedicated Adult Education Instructor to support adult learners in building foundational academic, language, and workforce readiness skills. This role is responsible for delivering engaging, student-centered instruction in areas such as ESL, literacy, and/or digital skills, while fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The instructor will guide learners toward measurable progress in education and employment pathways, using culturally responsive and practical teaching approaches that reflect real-life applications.
By the end of this opportunity, CSUN students will have gained hands-on experience supporting adult learners in educational settings, strengthened their communication and facilitation skills, and developed a deeper understanding of community-based education and the needs of immigrant and underserved populations.
CSUN students will receive an orientation covering our organization’s mission, programs, and the populations we serve. Training will include guidance on working with adult learners, cultural responsiveness, communication best practices, and maintaining a respectful, supportive learning environment. Students will also receive role-specific training (e.g., tutoring support, classroom assistance, or intake processes), along with ongoing staff guidance and check-ins.
Students will be placed in a supervised educational environment with staff present at all times. Students will receive guidance on maintaining professional boundaries, respecting participant confidentiality, and creating a safe, inclusive space for adult learners. The site follows standard safety protocols, including emergency procedures, and staff are available to respond to any concerns.
