Opportunity Summary 

Overview

We are a fast-growing small business in a start-up phase working across consumer packaged goods accounts and a major entertainment activation. note: client names are confidential.

We seek motivated interns who want hands-on exposure to finance, accounting, entrepreneurship, and business strategy. This role is ideal for students interested in pricing, sales performance improvement, and the financial management of large multinational accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pricing analysis and model development to inform go-to-market and promotional strategies
  • Assist with financial tracking, invoicing support, and month-end reconciliation for client accounts
  • Analyze sales and performance data; propose strategic interventions to improve top-line and margin
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal teams and client-facing meetings (confidential clients)
  • Shadow and support account financial workflows tied to multinational clients (compliance, reporting)
  • Participate in cross-functional problem solving and small-team strategy sessions
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects related to entrepreneurship and business operations

Training:

Overview
Interns will receive structured, hands-on training combining formal workshops, shadowing, and project-based learning to build practical skills in finance, accounting, pricing, and business strategy.

Core Training Modules

Accounting Fundamentals: basic bookkeeping, journal entries, month-end reconciliation, understanding income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow.
Financial Reporting & Compliance: preparing simple financial reports, understanding invoice workflows, and basic compliance/contract considerations for large accounts.

Excel for Finance: Excel skills—pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, conditional formatting, basic macros, and building financial models.
Pricing & Margin Analysis: building pricing models, margin and contribution analysis, promotional lift assessment, and scenario/what-if modeling.

Sales Analytics & Forecasting: analyzing sales datasets, trend analysis, KPI tracking, simple forecasting methods, and ROI measurement.
Tools & Systems: introductions to the company’s accounting/ERP tools, CRM basics, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau/Looker or Google Sheets/Slides workflows).

Strategic Problem Solving: frameworks for diagnosing sales problems, proposing strategic interventions, and building business cases.

Professional & Client Skills: confidentiality and data handling, client-facing communication, presentation skills, meeting prep, and cross-functional collaboration.
Startup Operations: expectations in a fast-growth environment, prioritization, time management, and wearing multiple hats.
Training Methods & Structure

Onboarding Bootcamp (week 1-unpaid): intensive orientation covering systems access, company processes, core accounting and Excel basics.

Weekly Workshops: 60–90 minute focused sessions on topics above led by team members or external trainers.

Shadowing & Mentorship: assigned mentor; shadow finance/account managers on client tasks, reconciliation, and reporting.

Project-Based Learning: interns work on 1–2 real projects (pricing model, sales improvement plan, or account financial review) with milestones and deliverables.
Regular Feedback: bi-weekly check-ins with mentor and mid-internship and end-of-internship performance reviews.

Resource Library: templates, recorded training, and reading materials for self-directed learning.

Expected Outcomes
By the end of the internship, interns will be able to produce basic financial reconciliations, build and present pricing and margin models, analyze sales data to recommend interventions, and confidently support account financial workflows for large clients while adhering to confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate student in Finance, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Economics, or related field
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency with Excel required
  • Clear written and verbal communication; ability to prepare concise reports and presentations
  • Self-starter mentality, comfort in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Interest in consumer packaged goods, business strategy, and financial operations
  • Confidentiality and professional discretion (client identities are protected)

  • Location: Brea, CA and Hybrid Remote
  • Duration: 10-12 weeks Summer and Fall
  • Time commitment: 10-20 hours part time
  • Compensation: for credit, some paid time for on-site work; unpaid training
