Opportunity Summary 

Seeking motivated interns who would like to learn how campaigns operate and have the drive to reach out to voters via phone banking and canvassing. We are also seeking students who want to take on leadership roles and other campaign duties, which include but are not limited to social media management, leading team members, and assisting with yard signs. Interns will have the opportunity to use Political Data, Inc. (PDI) to insert data each shift voters are contacted.

Tasks:

Phase 1 (Onboarding & Systems Training) Duties:
• Complete orientation on organizational structure, professional conduct, confidentiality, and field safety expectations.
• Review the candidate/campaign profile and messaging framework; summarize key priorities and target audiences.
• Obtain system access and complete guided training in the Political Data Inc. (PDI) platform (navigation, data fields, lookup, and search functions).
• Practice standardized data entry using training records: create/verify voter contact records, log interactions, apply correct tags, and document outcomes.
• Demonstrate competence via a skills check (e.g., correctly process a set of sample records with minimal errors).

Phase 2 (Phonebanking, Voter Contact & ID Coding) Duties:
• Conduct outbound voter contact calls using approved scripts; maintain professional call etiquette and accurately capture responses.
• Apply PDI survey codes/ID codes consistently (support/oppose/undecided, issue positions, follow-up flags) based on voter responses.
• Troubleshoot common data issues (duplicates, missing fields, incorrect addresses) and escalate edge cases to a supervisor with documentation.
• Participate in 1:1 coaching and calibration sessions; incorporate feedback to improve accuracy, compliance, and conversion.
• Track productivity and quality metrics (calls/hour, contact rate, data accuracy) and submit brief weekly reflections on skill growth.

Phase 3 (Field Canvassing, Data Interpretation & Reporting) Duties:
• Plan and execute precinct-level canvassing routes using assigned turf; follow field safety procedures and professional conduct standards.
• Engage voters in person using approved messaging; adapt communication based on voter questions while staying within guidelines.
• Record canvass outcomes in PDI in near-real time (or end-of-shift sync), ensuring accurate survey responses and disposition codes.
• Review and interpret field survey results: identify trends by precinct (support levels, key issues, follow-up needs) and note data quality concerns.
• Prepare concise summaries for supervisors (daily/weekly): progress vs. goals, notable voter feedback, and recommendations for next outreach steps.

Phase 4 (Leadership, Training & Operations Management) Duties:
• Serve as shift lead for phonebank and/or canvass teams: assign tasks, communicate daily goals, and ensure adherence to scripts and data standards.
• Onboard and train new student team members on PDI workflows, survey coding, quality expectations, and field/phone protocols.
• Monitor time tracking, attendance, and basic operational needs; flag issues early and propose solutions to maintain coverage and productivity.
• Conduct quality checks (random call/canvass record audits) and provide corrective coaching to improve data accuracy and professionalism.
• Coordinate with headquarters staff to report progress and adjust outreach strategy based on data, capacity, and priorities.

Training:

1. Phase 1:Students will be onboarded into our headquarters and given the initial task to learn about the candidate and onboarded onto the Political Data Inc. System.
2. Phase 2: Phonebank voter contact surveying and id coding, through one on one coaching to prepare for canvass voter contact.
3. Phase 3: Reach out to voter through a canvass of precincts and be able to interpret survey data yielded on the field through the PDI surveying method.
4 Phase 4: Take on leadership roles within the headquarter campus and manage a team on your own: on boarding, time tracking, PDI phonebank and canvass training, etc.

Learning Outcome:

1. Learn about a candidate to successfully phonebank and create good contact with voters using PDI and the phonebank system, data and interpret voter trajectory per city or precincts.
2. Be able to successfully use PDI to canvass a precinct and, over time, increase your yes-undecided rations.
3. Learn about Political Dat a Inc. and be able to manage a team of turf members while learning background logistics of how to run and manage a campaign,
4. Depending on time commitment, expose yourself to the internal procedures of a political campaign headquarters office and take on leadership roles to engage the public.
