Opportunity Summary 

What You'll Do:

  • Assist in all aspects of production for OC News (COMM 472) Advanced Broadcast Journalism Class.
  • Assist with the coordination, scheduling, and production of both studio and remote field productions.
  • Support the development of original programming concepts.
  • Help schedule production staff, equipment, and facilities to meet broadcast needs.
  • Assist in location and field production, including camera operation, lighting, and sound setup.
  • Provide research and PR support for television programming and shows.
  • Perform office administration duties, including organizing production documents and maintaining communication.
  • Assist with editing projects, ensuring they are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Take initiative and be a collaborative team player, contributing to all aspects of production.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the success of OC News and related projects.
  • Must be available from 2 PM to 6 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the semester.
  • Production Support: Assist with the coordination, scheduling, and execution of studio and field productions for OC News, ensuring smooth operations from start to finish.
    Creative Development: Support the development of original programming concepts, working alongside the production team and students to bring new ideas to life.
    Scheduling and Logistics: Aid in the scheduling of production staff, equipment, and facilities to meet the needs of live and pre-recorded broadcasts.
    Field Production Assistance: Provide on-location support, helping with camera operation, lighting, sound, and other technical aspects of field shoots.
    Research and Public Relations: Assist with research for news stories and programming, as well as public relations efforts to promote OC News and its content.
    Editing and Post-Production: Help oversee editing projects, ensuring they are completed efficiently and within budget.
    Administrative Duties: Perform office administration tasks such as maintaining production documents, schedules, and communications with the team.
    Initiative and Team Collaboration: Take initiative in solving problems and completing tasks, while working collaboratively with other team members.
    Other Duties: Carry out other duties as assigned to support the successful production of OC News and related projects.

Training:

  • Comprehensive orientation on production policies and guidelines.
  • Hands-on training through OC News class workshops and studio sessions.
  • Experience working alongside Titan TV productions to enhance production skills.
  • Self-guided learning opportunities to refine creative and technical skills.
  • OC News Class (COMM 472):
    Hands-on training in news production, including writing, editing, and live studio operations.
    Field reporting and camera operation techniques for real-world news environments.
    Titan TV Experience:
    Practical experience in studio and field productions, including directing, camera work, and post-production editing.
    Equipment management and scheduling training.
    Independent Development:
    Opportunities to enhance skills through self-guided learning in video editing, motion graphics, or leadership.
    Creative development of original programming ideas in a self-paced manner.

    Enhance leadership and teamwork skills by taking initiative in overseeing production tasks while collaborating effectively with a team to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
