Opportunity Summary 

Accounting Intern (College Credit)

We are seeking a motivated Accounting Intern to join our CPA firm for college credit. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in a fast-paced public accounting environment and exposure to real client work.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparation of individual and business tax returns
  • Organize and review client financial documents
  • Support bookkeeping and data entry in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
  • Reconcile accounts and assist with financial reporting
  • Perform administrative and research tasks as needed

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a college/university pursuing a degree in Accounting or related field
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with QuickBooks is a plus
  • Eagerness to learn and gain practical experience

Tasks:

Description of Tasks:

Prepare and organize client documents, including tax forms, financial statements, and supporting schedules
Assist in the preparation of individual and small business tax returns under supervision
Perform basic bookkeeping tasks, including data entry and categorization in QuickBooks Online
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts to ensure accuracy of financial records
Review client information for completeness and follow up on missing items
Scan, label, and maintain digital files in an organized and secure manner
Assist with preparing workpapers and supporting schedules for tax and accounting engagements
Conduct basic research on tax and accounting topics as needed
Support administrative tasks, including client communications and scheduling assistance
Shadow team members during client interactions to gain exposure to professional services

Training & Development:

Overview of real-world accounting workflows in a CPA firm
Hands-on training in tax preparation (individual and basic business returns)
Introduction to QuickBooks Online for bookkeeping and account reconciliation
Step-by-step guidance on organizing client documents and workpapers
Exposure to tax software (e.g., UltraTax CS)
Basic training on reading financial statements and identifying key items
Shadowing client meetings and learning professional communication
Feedback and mentorship from experienced CPAs throughout the internship
